RE/MAX announced more changes to its leadership team this week as Christopher Alexander stepped down as president of RE/MAX Canada, the company announced in a statement.

Alexander will remain with the franchisor as a brokerage owner and will begin consulting with RE/MAX Europe. RE/MAX Holdings CEO Erik Carlson will take over the role once Alexander transitions out of it in March.

Alexander had served in the role since 2021, and RE/MAX noted that the repositioning was voluntary.

“We want to thank Christopher for his many significant contributions to RE/MAX Canada and look forward to building on the strong foundation in place,” Carlson said in a statement. “The regional team remains focused on delivering world-class support to the outstanding network of local RE/MAX brokerages and agents.”

The change comes as RE/MAX battles ongoing declines in revenue and a loss of agents in North America, as well as other leadership changes.

Amy Lessinger stepped down as president of RE/MAX in January, less than a year after she took the reins from Nick Bailey. Bailey left the role in February 2024.

More than 3,600 agents, or 6.5 percent, departed between Q3 2023 and Q3 2024. The brand’s agent count grew slightly globally during that time by 174 agents.

Carlson noted that RE/MAX remains a leader in Canada, where agent count ticked up over the past year despite the closure of 30 RE/MAX Canada offices in the country.

“Thanks in large part to Christopher’s efforts, RE/MAX continues to maintain its No. 1 market share in residential transaction sides and has grown its agent count to an all-time high in Canada,” Carlson said. The power of the brand remains in the quality and caliber of RE/MAX broker-owners and sales associates, who strive every day to deliver the best experience in real estate to homebuyers and sellers.”

“It has been the greatest honor of my career to lead this organization in Canada,” Alexander said in a statement. “The most rewarding part of this role has been collaborating daily with the exceptional, industry-leading entrepreneurs who make up the RE/MAX network.”
