Kevin Keefe, who stepped down as CEO of hybrid broker/dealer and RIA platform Realta Wealth in February, has resurfaced at Independent Financial Group, a privately held independent broker/dealer in San Diego, as president and chief operating officer.
In the new role, Keefe will oversee the firm’s compliance, operations, supervision and product marketing, with over 600 financial advisors across more than 400 locations in 41 states.
Scott Heising, a founder of IFG, previously served as CEO and president, but will now focus solely on the CEO duties.
“Kevin is a proven leader with a strong vision for how to elevate our offering and help our advisors thrive in an evolving landscape,” Heising said in a statement.
In a statement about the new role, Keefe said he would help the IBD “pursue the next phase of growth.”
Most recently, Keefe was the CEO of Realta Wealth, which he joined in June 2023 and led through a rebranding. Early last year, Realta, which is owned by Orange Street Holdings, rebranded from CoastalOne.
Before joining Realta, Keefe was a senior advisor for BNY Mellon. He has also held leadership roles at Advisor Group, LPL and First Allied Securities, where he served as CEO during its integration into Cetera Financial Group.
