David Canter, the former head of RIAs and family offices at Fidelity Institutional and ephemeral president of Bluespring Wealth Partners, has joined the board of directors at Parallel Advisors, a registered investment advisor with $7.5 billion in client assets.
“David’s reputation precedes him as an admired and influential expert in the RIA domain,” said Parallel Advisors CEO C.J. Rendic in a statement. “His deep understanding of platforms and ecosystems will be invaluable as we pursue our strategic growth objectives and strengthen our position as a world-class independent wealth management firm.”
Canter stepped down as president of Bluespring, the RIA acquisition arm of Kestra Holdings, last August. In February, he became a strategic advisor to the digital alternatives platform CAIS. He is also the CEO of Finley Point Strategy LLC, a consulting firm to the wealth, asset management and fintech ecosystem.
Prior to joining Bluespring, Canter spent 13 years at Fidelity Institutional, where he led the RIA and family office segments.
San Francisco-based Parallel sold a minority stake in the RIA to Emigrant Partners, a business arm of New York Private Bank & Trust subsidiary Emigrant Bank, in 2020. Emigrant exited its investment in the firm in 2023, with private equity firm Golden Gate Capital acquiring a majority stake.
