Cetera has gained a registered investment advisor previously affiliated with Cambridge Associates and two solo advisors who used to be with Merrill and PNC Investments.
Duke Haley has shifted his Carmel, Ind.-based Haley Wealth Management from Cambridge Associates to Cetera after searching for a larger support network and stronger offerings in investing and wealth-adjacent support areas.
“You have the feel of a smaller firm, but you have the support of a bigger firm,” he said of Cetera.
One selling point for Haley was the strong ratio of support people to advisors, which he felt meant people would “answer the phone.”
Haley said he was prompted to look by clients asking him what he was thinking about the future. He felt Cetera would give him the option to either transition it over to a family member, which is one option, or for Cetera’s network of advisors to take on his clients.
In a separate move, Clinton Carrier has left PNC after over 20 years at the bank and financial services company for Commonwealth Capital Management, a Cetera-affiliated advisory in Louisville, Ky.
Carrier said he knew a few people at Commonwealth Capital and liked the look of the culture and working environment.
“I wanted more independence over my practice, but I wanted independence while still being part of a team,” he said. “I didn’t want to be cooped up in a basement working on my own.”
Carrier also liked the technology and client services available via Cetera. His client base is mainly blue-collar workers, and he wants to work with them on retirement and retirement income planning.
“They’re not at home watching CNBC all day long,” Carrier said. “They rely on me for advice and planning, and I want to come up with the right plan for each client to suit their needs and income goals.”
Finally, Jeff Beck joined Cetera Advisor Networks firm Coe Financial Group in Northbrook, Ill., after about two years at Merrill and eight at Tranel Financial Group, which is also based in Illinois.
In a LinkedIn post announcing the additions, Cetera wrote: “We’re proud that Cetera is a destination for advisors seeking the independence to operate on their terms while enjoying high-touch support and exceptional service within a community-driven environment.”
The San Diego-based firm employs more than 12,000 financial advisors and their teams and has about $545 billion in assets under administration and $235 billion in assets under management.
